Book Of The Week
So, I’m a day behind on my Book Of The Week post! I’m sorry! Game of Thrones really messes with my Sundays! And yesterday I was too tired to use my brain for any extra thinking. Anyway, my pick for this week is the first book in the Nevermoor series, Nevermoor! I listened to this book on Libro.fm and didn’t absolutely love it, I was in the minority in that opinion though. It wasn’t that it was a horrible story it was just that for me it took a long time to pick up. And for a kids book, that made it a little hard to hand-sell. It wasn’t until about 60% when I really got into this book and didn’t want it to end. 😬.
You may be asking why I'm recommending it then, answer; I saw it’s potential. I knew this would be a great book for a patient or an imaginative kid. Plus, I knew it was going to be a series so that also helped. A lot of people were comparing this book (series) to Harry Potter, which didn’t make much sense to me. The only thing that similar between the two is there's a group of kids who are in a magical world. Other than that, not much of a comparison.
I think this book will be a great book for the right kid. I still have to read the second one so there will be an update on that when I finally get around to it! Always read a book out of your comfort zone. You never know.

Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks--and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.
But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.
It's then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city's most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. In order to join, she must compete in four difficult and dangerous trials against hundreds of other children, each boasting an extraordinary talent that sets them apart - an extraordinary talent that Morrigan insists she does not have. To stay in the safety of Nevermoor for good, Morrigan will need to find a way to pass the tests - or she'll have to leave the city to confront her deadly fate.
