Book Of The Week!

Book Of The Week!

***Couple of things: I know my Book Of The Week is a day early but I had to post it to coincide with the start of the GOT season finale! And also, yes, I know I haven’t posted a bunch of new reviews like I said I would be. I’ve been reading some anthologies… But I’m on it. I promise.***

The time has come… Winter is here!!!! Figuratively and literally. It’s April 14th and there is an actual blizzard going on right now. But that’s ok because the season finale of GOT starts today! And I CANNOT WAIT!!! I’ve been watching GOT since first seeing the commercials while watching True Blood. I’m ready- SOO ready! I think Sansa will sit on the iron throne. At least that’s who I hope will.

Have any of you actually read the books? I’ve been ssslllooowwllyy making my way though the books but man are they dense. I’ve seen the show more times than I am willing to admit and yet those books still give me pause. My brain does not function that way. But I do have a great appreciation for them and watching/reading at the same time is super helpful mostly because of all those damn names!

Well, I’m off to go rewatch the last season of GOT before the new episode airs tonight! Be brave all my summer children!

Title: A Game Of Thrones
Author: George R.R. Martin
Pages: 848
Publication Date: August 6, 1996
Publisher: Bantam
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom’s protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens.

Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.
