Darkest Before Dawn Review
Title: Darkest Before Dawn (KGI, #10)
Author: Maya Banks
Publication Date: October 27, 2015
The enigmatic Hancock has been both opponent and ally to the KGI teams for as long as they’ve known him. Always working a deep game, Hancock’s true allegiance has never been apparent, but one thing is for certain—he never lets anything get in the way of duty.
But now, his absolute belief in the primacy of his ultimate goal is challenged by a captive he’s been ordered to guard, no matter how much she suffers in her prison. She’s the only woman who’s ever managed to penetrate the rigid walls surrounding his icy heart, but will he allow his perplexing feelings for the beautiful victim to destroy a mission he’s spent years working to complete or will he be forced to sacrifice her for “the greater good.”
I’ve loved all of the books in the KGI series but I think this one was my favorite. It was just sooooo GOOOD!!!!
Watching Hancock transform from man-of-no-feelings to a man that is an emotional wreck over a woman was amazing. Hancock has been an up and down character through most of the KGI series so it was refreshing to see the world through his eyes. He becmes this love sick puppy and it is funny but also sweet. He truly has no idea what to do with his feelings. He thinks he is the bad guy and so he stays away from her.,
Honor was my favorite female lead yet! She was strong but not in the way PJ or Skylar or even the rest of the women from this series are strong. Honor stands apart from them. I loved her strength and her battle. She is an amazing intellectual and creative character. She is able to outrun the bad guys for an entire week, while injured, based off her quick thinking and smarts alone. She was so emotional and inspiring. I literally don’t even know how to articulate the love I have for Honor’s character. She was just amazing. It was funny and thrilling to watch Honor take on the toughest team in KGI with a sharp tongue and a smile. I don’t think anyone else would have been able to wrap that team around their finger like Honor did.
This book was absolutely my favorite so far. The journey and character arcs were fantastic. I was enthralled from the first chapter. I read the book in one day because there was no way I was going to be able to do anything while wondering what was going to happen next. This is a must read for any Maya Banks fan or anyone who loves a good suspense romance! Best Book in the KGI series EVER!
