As a pro-fisherman, Benson Howell’s days are spent on murky lake water, reeling in largemouth bass and winning first place trophies. At twenty-nine, life is easy and carefree. His only job is to stay in the top rankings during the fishing circuit, and keep the sponsors happy. That is, until he meets hot tempered, fiery haired Danni-Rose in small-town Alabama. He has never backed down from anything too big to reel in.
Danni-Rose has spent the past six years of her life burying her past. When Benson Howell literally plows his boat right into her life, armed with simmering anger, she fights the current pulling her closer to him. With a past she can’t let go of, and the sexy fisherman breaking down all her walls, Danni-Rose does everything she can to break the line connecting her to Benson.
Will Danni-Rose be able to let go of the past? Can Benson change her mind about him? Or will they both miss the catch of a lifetime?
There is so much I want to say about this book!!!! I absolutely loved it! If my schedule would have allowed me to read this book in one sitting- I would have! I was actually annoyed that I had things to do…
This is the first book by Allison Mullinax, and you don’t want to miss it. The story is fun, sweet, tear-inducing, and romantic.
I loved Danni-Rose. She was so much fun to read. Her sarcasm and wit made me laugh constantly. I speak fluent sarcasm so it was fun to read a character that had a personality so similar to my own. However, I think Liza might have been my favorite character her and Jess’ banter was so funny. Liza was just as much fun to read as Danni-Rose.
And oh God- Benson! He is the type of guy every woman wants. I guarantee Benson will be your next book-boyfriend. There is no possible way he could not be. He was just perfect. He was strong, understanding, and went toe to toe against Danni’s sarcasm….“Well, not everyone judges a book by its fishing-boat cover”… I think that’s my favorite line in the book.
Danni-Rose is closed off and tightly wound. She does not want to get close to anyone or let her past rest. Benson comes along and sees something in Danni-Rose and he is instantly determined to force his way in. He slowly beats down her defenses with witty and funny banter (the one liners in the story are just amazing! Point made in above paragraph). The passion and spark between Danni and Benson is almost immediate and powerful.
This story is so emotional on so many different levels; Danni-Rose’s past, her dog Beau, and so many more scenes that I can’t talk about without ruining the story. Ahh!
I hardly ever get choked up while reading, but this story made me tear up at least four separate times. Mullinax’s writing is fun, sweet, and will pull you in without you even realizing it. She writes characters that you will just fall in love with. My only complaint about this book is that it was not longer. I did not want the story to end!
Make sure to pick up a copy of this book. This is a sweet and enjoyable romance that you will not want to miss! I can’t wait to see more works from this author!
