🐌 Slow Reader 🐢
For as much as I read and how many books I own, I am a slower reader. Always have been. Yes, I can read an entire book in a day but it will take me 6-8 hours instead of like 3-5 hours. I’ve always known I wasn’t a fast reader- It’s just a fact. However, it wasn’t until I was lucky enough to be a beta tester for the Bookly reading app that I realized just how long it takes me to read one book! (This app is amazing by the way. It tracks how long you read a book, predicts how many hours it will take you to read it, and gives you reading stats and goals! I have fallen hook, line, and sinker for it and now use it every time I pick up a book- I highly suggest trying it out!).
One of the reasons I take so long to read is I like to immerse myself in a book. I don’t want to miss anything or rush it- I just want to be a part of the story. I also LOVE to jump from book to book, so one book can end up sitting untouched for months. I do plan on trying to put a handle on that book ADD problem this coming year. Stay tuned for that!
I always thought I read a lot of books (mostly because I owned more books than anyone I knew). It wasn’t until I became part of the book community that I realized I am a very small fish in a large, large ocean. I remember seeing someone had read 350 something books in a year, I was astonished! Like, completely blown away.
in 2015 I created my Book Book (One day I will do a post about my Book Book but for now, it’s a binder that I use to keep track of anything book related). That same year I decided my New Years Resolution was going to be to read as many books as I possibly could in a year (I read 203!). That year I really didn’t do anything but read. Literally. I read nonstop. Now, a few years later I’m not sure how I was able to do that many books. I was in college full time and worked two jobs… I do remember being exhausted though...
This year my theme for reading had been to read outside my comfort zone. I knew I wouldn’t read as much this year as I had previously because I was busier than I had been before. That was fine with me, though. And now, in December, it’s still fine with me. I read some AMAZING books this year and I look forward to reading more amazing books next year. I just need to pick a theme for next year’s reading…
Slow reader or fast reader- just be a reader- that’s the most important thing!!!
