Sin Brothers Series Review
Series: The Sin Brothers
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Review: I really have no idea how to rate this series, as you can tell from the question mark. The first two books really just rubbed me the wrong way. I almost stopped reading them because I was beyond annoyed but I was told the books get better and to stick with it- so I did. I have to say the last two books are worth suffering through the first two.
One of my problems with this series stemmed from the lack of research. Things that could have been easily looked up and written into the story were just left alone to show how there was not much effort into making these books seem authentic (these things could have been easily fixed in edits!). My other major problem was the inconsistencies that were beyond prevalent. The time line was off in two of the books- they somehow managed to have 3 months left in two different books that took place 3 months apart while also having 5 weeks left in the last two books (Someone tell me if i’m wrong, did I misread? misunderstand? I know I’m bad at math but I don’t think ’Im this bad… am I?). And it somehow always rained in these books. And I mean storms with raging rain. The last three books took place within a month of each other and there were multiple major storms happening with each book. I realize that the storms were used to heighten dramatic effect but by the last book all I could think about was how it stormed constantly WHEREVER they went! Talk about having dark clouds over their heads… I also had a big problem with the mysoginsioc under tones throughout the series. These men didn’t learn to not be misogynistic they just learned to hide their misogynistic feelings/actions (especially in the first book!!!)
As you can see I had major problems with this series but I did really enjoy the last two books. They were great and what I had hoped the first two books would have been like. I know I just complained about the flaws but they were such blatant flaws it was hard not to just unload them all.
If you are looking to read these books- I recommend suspending belief and just roll with the story (I promise the last two books are great!). The plot is a good one and there are some shinning moments in these books but the overwhelming amount of "What the hell is happening?" really just stained the series for me.
